The number of households coming to LCSC for assistance in continues to grow. By the end of 2012, LCSC will have provided emergency food assistance to 10,000 unduplicated individuals, which equates to over 18% of the total population of the City of Lakewood. Every month at least 10% of the individuals coming for food have never needed this service in the past and even more troubling is the fact that over 50% of these clients have an annual income at or below $10,000. In addition to needing food, many individuals require the support of case management from our social workers - at least 35% of the individuals who come to the Center need assistance with housing and/or referrals to partner service providers in the community
We could not begin to keep pace with these critical needs without your support. Please join us in making an important difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve.... You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Each time a man stands up for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.
